Still have not fixed the blog problem and don't know that I ever will <sigh> There are so many other things that need to get done. But I wanted everyone to know:
MY GIRL IS PINK!!!
Lilah had her surgery on July 25th and she did so well that they discharged us on July 30th. She is absolutely amazing. Not only is she pink (as in good-bye blue lips and fingertips, toes and eyelids, etc.) she is breathing easy. She has a Contegra implant, taking the place of the pulmonary artery she was born without. Her saturation rate is 100%!!!Yes, you read that right. The surgeon warned me a few times not to expect more than 94% but I told him I know The One Who knows! I was not surprised to see the monitor read 100%. I had an incredible amount of peace as we waited beside her bed and life support was removed. I watched the numbers dip and then rebound and then remain stubbornly firm at 100%!
She is truly a miracle. She waited three long years for her repair and some feared she would not be able to make a complete comeback. BUT SHE DID! Already the clubbing in her fingertips is just about gone--this surprised even her cardiologist--and the enlargement of her liver and the right side of her heart are expected to return to normal within the next year.
I know many mommies and daddies are considering adopting a heart babe and I hope our story encourages you. Lilah is a delight. She is spunky and caring (she picked out 3 lillipops at the store today, remembering her sisters without being prompted, but she's like that with everything). She rubs your back if your upset (like when Mommy stubs her toe on the furniture or falls over a toy left out...) and will add her voice to her sisters' if Mommy doesn't come running fast enough...
